Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a CT Scan Technologist to join our radiology team. Under supervision, you will perform CT examinations with contrast, gather clinical data, and ensure accurate documentation.

The ideal candidate is a graduate of an accredited radiologic program, ARRT or NMTCB certified in diagnostic CT, and licensed in Massachusetts. Some travel between Marlborough and Nashoba may be required; strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Responsibilities

• Perform CT exams with contrast according to department policy and procedures.

Under the supervision of the Senior CT Scan Technologist and department leadership, provides direct patient care services and other related functions in support of the department. Performs independently within scope of department policies. Clinically works at the direction of a qualified Radiologist.

I. Major Responsibilities

• Properly performs all CT scan examinations appropriate to the age of the patient in inpatient and or outpatient settings, consistent with departmental and professional standards and protocols.
• Gathers pertinent clinical data and maintains accurate patient records.
• Accurately completes all records, paperwork and billings and submits promptly.
• Positions and transfers patients appropriately and assists physicians with interventional exams.
• Promptly and properly completes exams, performs QC on images and appropriately sends exams to PACS for the physicians to review.
• Assists in maintaining an orderly inventory and in arranging the purchase of needed supplies.
• Assists with other job-related duties including urgent exam requests and scheduling.
• Under the direction of a Radiologist or Emergency Room Physician, performs CT exams using contrast media according to department policy and procedures.
• Will establish IV access for contrast injection according to department policy and procedure.

II. Position Qualifications

License/Certification/Education

Required:

• Graduate of an accredited radiological program.
• Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) or NMTCB certified in diagnostic CT.
• Licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Preferred

• Travel between Marlborough and Nashoba/Groton as scheduled to provide operational, administrative, or departmental support.
• The float requirement only applies to newly hired staff at UMass Memorial Nashoba Valley.

Experience/Skills

Required:

• Demonstrated ability to provide quality patient care with minimal supervision in a fast-paced setting, collaborating with peers to product optimum results.
• Verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with patients and families.

Preferred:

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.

Department-specific competencies and their measurements will be developed and maintained in the individual departments. The competencies will be maintained and attached to the departmental job description. Responsible managers will review competencies with position incumbents.
