Position Summary:

UI Health seeks Radiologic Technologists to join our Diagnostic Service department. Multiple openings are available for both part-time and full-time roles. Work schedules include Days, Evenings, Nights, and Rotating Weekends. In this role, you will operate and maintain radiographic equipment and supplies under a physician’s direction to perform procedures involving diagnostic radiographic images. These images are interpreted by medical officers to identify injuries, foreign bodies, pathological conditions, or lesions within the body. You will assist with patient preparation, ensure a sterile environment, monitor patient safety and comfort, and maintain patient records. You will work under the supervision of higher-level personnel.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Obtain medical history relevant to the exam within HIPAA guidelines.
  • Interpret physicians’ orders; screen patients prior to procedures.
  • Position and transfer patients on/off radiographic tables, using proper body mechanics; provide immobilization devices as needed.
  • Assist with patient and procedure room preparation; position and adjust equipment; perform safety checks.
  • Explain procedures to patients; observe and monitor during procedures; inform physicians of any abnormalities.
  • Perform procedures to produce diagnostic images; maintain sterile fields; determine optimal imaging methods; adjust technical factors; minimize radiation exposure.
  • Administer contrast media and medications under supervision.
  • Assist with post-procedure cleanup; maintain and clean equipment.
  • Review, label, format, and process diagnostic images ensuring standards are met.
  • Use health information systems to manage patient records; input and verify information; utilize codes and charges.
  • Follow all regulatory guidelines.
  • Operate all radiographic equipment, including mobile units used at bedside, ER, and OR.
  • Demonstrate technical proficiency tailored to patient’s body habitus, using the lowest radiation dose possible.
  • Maintain department cleanliness and order following JCAHO, IDPH, and Infection Control standards.
  • Report equipment malfunctions; arrange repairs.
  • Assist in training Radiology Technology students.
  • Assist with medical codes when necessary.
  • Participate in emergency drills and disaster responses.
  • Input and retrieve data from computer systems.
  • Perform diagnostic exams using CR and DR imaging.
  • Complete required training and in-services.
  • Provide On-Call coverage as needed.
  • Attend staff meetings; maintain continuing education; document training.
  • Perform administrative duties such as answering phones, managing inventory, scanning documents, and stocking rooms.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current/valid registration and certification in Radiography by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Current/valid accreditation as a Radiologic Technologist by the State of Illinois (IEMA).
  • Current/Valid American Heart Association BLS CPR certification.
