Mercyhealth seeks a Radiologic Technologist to perform diagnostic radiographic procedures with focus on safety, patient comfort, and imaging quality. The role may include patient reception, phlebotomy, rooming patients, vital signs, and teaching radiography students.
Responsibilities include equipment operation, image capture, data submission to PACS, and adherence to safety protocols. ARRT radiography registration is required, with CPR/BLS within 90 days of hire.
The Radiologic Technologist performs diagnostic radiographic procedures while ensuring patient safety, comfort, proper positioning, and high-quality imaging. Depending on the clinic assignment, the role may also include patient reception, phlebotomy/specimen collection, rooming patients, taking vital signs, and providing practical instruction to radiography students and other staff.
PRN SHIFT: Variable
Performs diagnostic radiographic procedures. Depending on clinic assignment, may also perform patient reception, phlebotomy/specimen collection duties, rooming patients, and taking vital signs. Corroborates patients clinical history with procedure, ensuring information is documented and available to the radiologist and provider. Prepares and positions patient for procedures, providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation and minimize anxiety. Selects and operates imaging equipment, image capture devices and accessories to successfully perform procedures. Positions patient to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort. Immobilizes patient as required for examination. Assumes responsibility for provision of physical and psychological needs of patient during procedures. Initiates basic life support when necessary. Determines radiographic technique and exposure factors. Applies principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others. Processes images and reviews for proper identification and quality control. Uses radiology information systems (including PACS), completes all required records and reports, submits images and data for physician review and interpretation. Provides practical instruction for radiography students and other partners. Observes universal protocol, standard precautions and appropriate patient identifiers. Applies principles of patient safety during procedures, including assisting and transporting patients. Utilities appropriate scripting, barriers, and patient identifiers.
Graduate of an accredited School of Radiologic Technology
ARRT Radiography registration required
IEMA-DNS radiography accreditation required if working in Illinois
WI-DSPS radiographer license required if working in Wisconsin
Approved CPR or BLS certification within 90 days of hire
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skill: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Manufacturing software, Order processing system, and Word processing. Other Takes call as needed.

Provides clinical supervision of radiography students.
