Qualifications

  • BLS within 30 days from the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Registered in Radiography (R) through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Licensed Radiologic Technologist in Radiography through the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA)
  • ACLS within 1 year from the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Certificate of Completion in Radiologic Technology
  • Associate's Degree in a related field
  • Ability to perform diagnostic and interventional cardiac, electrophysiology, peripheral vascular, neurointerventional, and interventional radiology procedures
  • Ability to operate imaging and physiological monitoring equipment and perform basic troubleshooting
  • Ability to use adjunctive tools including IVUS, FFR/iFR, Lithotripsy, Impella, IABP, OCT, Rotarex, HawkOne, Penumbra, EKOS, and Inari
  • Ability to take call independently within 6 months
  • Ability to work the scheduled day, weekend, holiday, on-call, and variable shifts
  • Ability to float to all areas of the department, including Prep and Recovery

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional patient care in the Invasive lab for a designated time frame
  • Perform diagnostic and interventional cardiac, electrophysiology device, peripheral vascular, neuro-interventional, and interventional radiology procedures
  • Produce quality imaging and assist the Interventionalist during invasive procedures
  • Perform technical hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation using automated techniques
  • Administer contrast material and establish IV access when applicable; recognize and respond to hypersensitivity or allergic reactions
  • Anticipate setup and equipment needs for invasive procedures
  • Circulate, scrub, and/or monitor assigned cardiac Cath, neurointerventional, peripheral vascular, structural, interventional radiology, EP device, and Watchman procedures
  • Coordinate inventory and supplies to ensure necessary equipment is available
  • Verify patient and chart identification, diagnosis, contraindications, and treatment position
  • Compile pertinent clinical information and complete procedural documentation accurately
  • Explain procedures and provide patient comfort, support, safety, and confidentiality
  • Verify image transfer to PACS and troubleshoot basic PACS issues
  • Perform on-call duties and variable shifts; float to all department areas including Prep and Recovery as needed
  • Maintain a clean and neat work area
  • Operate and perform basic troubleshooting for imaging, physiological monitoring, and related equipment
  • Achieve hemostasis at vascular access sites and monitor for complications
  • Apply the ALARA principle to maintain staff and patient safety
  • Use adjunctive procedural tools including IVUS, FFR/iFR, Lithotripsy, Impella, IABP, OCT, Rotarex, HawkOne, Penumbra, EKOS, and Inari
  • Take call independently within 6 months
  • Assist with cath lab, vascular, neurointerventional, pacemaker, Watchman, EVAR, and interventional radiology procedures

Job description
