Summary

Performs radiographic procedures by applying prescribed ionizing radiation to produce the highest quality images. Demonstrates independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative. Assists radiologist and other physicians with procedures to provide customers with the highest standard of care.

Responsibilities

• Serve patients and their families courteously
• Perform procedures promptly while producing high‑quality images
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and team members
• Demonstrate knowledge of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient needs
• Promote a positive image of the Radiology department and the hospital

Qualifications

• Graduation from an AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology
• Clinical rotation through a hospital setting during training
• Registered or registry‑eligible with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and in good standing
• CPR training
• Good communication skills
• Team‑player attitude and ability to handle stressful situations

Work Environment

• Possible exposure to bloodborne pathogens (HIV, hepatitis B) and other infectious diseases such as TB; mandatory use of protective equipment
• Exposure to ionizing radiation; requires use of radiation protective equipment

Physical Requirements

• Walk and stand throughout shift
• Push and pull stretchers and wheelchairs loaded with patients
• Lifts patients with assistance
• Lifts and carries films, cassettes, chemicals and supplies
• May experience stressful work shifts
