Overview

In 1971, Yale University established Yale Health to provide health services to its facility, staff and students through a multidisciplinary health maintenance organization located on campus. Yale Health has more than 50,000 members including students, staff, faculty and their families who come from every state in the country and almost every country in the world.

With over 50 years of service to the Yale community, our state-of-the‑art facility at 55 Lock Street, is where our members receive most of their care from our 150+ providers. It is a 144,000 square foot medical facility with over 90 exam rooms, an Acute Care Department, a 15‑bed inpatient facility with two negative pressure rooms, a diagnostic imaging suite including MR and CT scan, x‑ray and ultrasound and a full-service retail pharmacy.

As a member of the Diagnostic Imaging Team, the Radiologic Technologist will assist in providing coordinated and compassionate care at every patient encounter at Yale Health.

This is a 6-Month Fixed Duration Position
Schedule

Part‑time, 27.50 hours/week, Monday - Friday 4 pm - 10 pm. Weekends or holidays/recess periods may also be required.

Required Skills And Abilities

Principal Responsibilities
  • Performs specialized testing procedures appropriate to specialty in radiology.
  • Reviews patient’s chart, patient’s condition, and physician’s notes to plan and determine method of testing.
  • Positions patients.
  • Sets up, operates, and maintains equipment to conduct tests and procedures appropriate to specialty.
  • Provides information to patients concerning specific tests and procedures. Reads and interprets obtained images. Records test results. Identifies and reports abnormalities.
  • Coordinates processing of slides and film. Instructs and acts as a source of information on testing techniques, procedures, and equipment operation.
  • Schedules patient appointments and originates billing paperwork. Reviews and prepares financial paperwork related to clinical activities.
  • Assists in research projects by analyzing and compiling patient information.
  • Creates visual aids for lecture presentations and publications.
  • Orders and maintains inventory of supplies.
  • Performs additional functions related to clinical activities.
Required Education and Experience

Six years of related work experience, four of them in the same job family at the next lower level, and high school level education; or four years of related work experience and an Associate's degree, or little or no work experience and a Bachelor's degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of experience and education.

Required License(s) or Certification(s)

Connecticut State Radiographer licensure. Certification as a Registered X-Ray Technician by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
