Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology or an AS degree in Radiology Studies.
• Licensed by the Texas Medical Board as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT).
• ARRT-R certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for radiologic procedures by proper positioning and equipment setup.
• Reduce patient anxiety; explain procedures and answer questions.
• Minimize radiation exposure using protective measures and correct exposure factors.
• Follow infection-control policies and drug protocols as needed.
• Maintain radiographs quality and develop images; adjust as necessary.
• Document patient care in department records.
• Ensure operation and maintenance of radiology equipment; troubleshoot when needed.
• Maintain inventory and supplies; order replacements as required.
• Maintain a safe, clean work environment per policies.

Job description

Townsen Memorial Hospital is looking for a Radiologic Technologist to join our team!

Summary

The Radiologic Technologist is responsible for the provision of Imaging Services to include the specialty areas of routine diagnostic x-rays, portable x-rays and fluoroscopy.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Prepare patient for radiological procedure by positioning patient; adjusting immobilization devices; moving equipment into specified position; adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors.
• Gain patient cooperation by reducing anxieties; providing explanations of treatment; answering questions.
• Minimize radiation to patient and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding, and knowledge of exposure factors.
• Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection‑control policies and protocols and following drug protocols in case of reactions to drugs, such as contrast media, administering first aid, and using the emergency cart.
• Maintain production and quality of radiographs by following established standards and procedures; developing radiographs; observing radiographic results; making necessary adjustments.
• Document patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
• Ensure operation of radiology equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
• Maintain radiology supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.
• Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology or Associates Degree in Radiology Studies
• Licensed by the Medical State Board of Texas as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT)
• Certified by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT‑R)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
