Job summary

Advocate Health Care in Hoffman Estates, IL is seeking a Radiology Technician to perform radiographic procedures with accuracy and safety. You will position patients, operate equipment, and ensure high-quality images for radiologists while maintaining patient comfort and flow of the department.

Responsibilities

  • Determination of appropriate radiological technique and position for patient using immobilization and support devices.
  • Operates radiology equipment appropriately.
  • Positions patient, adjusts equipment, secures and immobilizes support devices as needed to perform procedures.
  • Determines radiographic technique based on anatomy and patient condition to obtain quality films.
  • Secures history from patient regarding reason for prescribed test.
  • Adheres to safety standards to ensure patient safety and quality care.
  • Uses universal precautions in daily procedures.
  • Maintains safety standards to protect patients and staff, including shielding.
  • Maintains supplies and cleanliness for assigned room daily.
  • Administers CPR as necessary.
  • Ensures accuracy of examination and requisition.
  • Familiar with MSDS for department chemicals.
  • Performs clerical duties: records, statistics, calls, scheduling, patient instructions.
  • Communicates with patient and provides excellent care.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Coordinates quality control tasks.
  • Inventories supplies and maintains stock.
  • Labels radiology images per standards.
  • Prepares contrast media per department standards.
  • Performs daily sensitometry of processors; assists in inspections.
  • Checks film quality and labeling.
  • Quality control activities and coordinates patient flow with providers.
  • Prepares radiology rooms daily.
  • Coordinates patient flow into/out of department.
  • Performs orders management tracking.

  • 9)Communicates with patient appropriately and provides excellent care.
  • 10)Performs other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience Required
  • IDNS license. Graduate from an accredited AMA School of Radiology
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
  • Knowledge of Health Information System. Basic knowledge of radiology equipment.
  • CPR certification Licensed by IDNS. American Registry of Radiologic Technologists registered (ARRT)
Physical Requirements And Working Conditions
  • Able to make independent professional decisions pertaining to high quality patient care. High degree of technical skills Must be able to function with minimal assistance in performing job activities. Ability to deal with extremely ill patients. Ability to lift and/or move patients. Ability to work under stressful conditions, in difficult situations. May be exposed to hazardous materials and life-threatening diseases. Ability to work during site hours of operation.
  • If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Radiology Tech also performs all lab assistant duties and is trained by Federal Standards in Urine Drug and Breath Alcohol Testing.
