Job summary

Amberwell Health is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to provide patient care and operate diagnostic radiographic equipment for evaluations in varying modalities of Radiology. This full-time role requires a commitment to safety and patient education.

The ideal candidate must have an Associate’s degree, ARRT registration, and preferably one year of experience, while adhering to compliance and confidentiality standards. Physical demands involve medium work with lifting requirements.

Qualifications

  • Education: Associate’s degree or radiological graduate from an accredited program.
  • Experience: One year experience preferred.
  • Certificates, License, Registrations: ARRT; RT(R) Additional Licenses- RT(R)(M), RT(R)(CT), RT(R)(MR).
  • Physical: Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds occasionally.

  • Properly perform all required exams and review outside films when needed.
  • Instruct students in clinical settings.

Job description

Basic Function

The Radiologic Technologist is responsible for providing patient care and technical skills in the operation of diagnostic radiographic equipment, for diagnostic evaluation purposes, in varying modalities of Radiology.

Shift Days/Hours

Monday through Friday 5 PM to 10 PM. Weekend Call Rotation Required. Subject to change based on business necessity.

Interpersonal Relationships

Supervision Received: Radiology Director

Supervision Exercised: None

Other: Patients, families, visitors, other hospital personnel, medical staff, other medical facility personnel, community program personnel, mortuary personnel, EMS personnel, members of the general public.

Exposure to Hazards

To reduce job hazards, this position is responsible for wearing PPE during job functions. PPE can include gloves, gown/coat, shoe covers, head/face, eye and ear protection. Each job function requires a different level of PPE, individuals receive initial and annual training to identify the appropriate level of PPE required. Exposed to radiation and high-field magnetic strength; so practice any safety measures available including time, distance, shielding and a thorough screening of the patient.

Equipment Used

General Radiology, Dexa, Fluoroscopy, CT, MRI and Mammography equipment.

Essential Functions
  1. Operate computer and various Radiology modalities, and equipment for image production.
  2. Prepare patients for exam (to include scheduling and preps).
  3. Prepare films for radiologist interpretation.
  4. Practice safety measure for patient and technologist.
  5. Instruct student in clinical setting.
  6. Respond to pager system.
  7. Interview patients, provide proper instruction to patients, obtain a thorough screening and history of every patient and provide education for post-procedure when needed.
  8. Properly perform all exams that are required and review outside films and reports when needed.
  9. Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs of radiology equipment.
  10. Ensure that rooms are equipped with necessary supplies and linens.
  11. Adhere to internal controls established for department.
  12. Be able to start and discontinue IVs for contrast administration when indicated.
  13. Properly maneuver in the EMR and in PACS; mark images for radiologist to read, upload outside imaging, etc.
  14. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education: Associate’s degree or radiological graduate from an accredited program. ARRT registered.

Experience: One year experience preferred.

Certificates, License, Registrations: ARRT; RT(R) Additional Licenses- RT(R)(M), RT(R)(CT), RT(R)(MR)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: General anatomy knowledge and the ability to multi-task. Maintain compliance with HIPAA and patient confidentiality.

Physical: Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds occasionally or 10 to 25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
