Gulf Coast Spine in Fort Myers, FL is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to perform x-ray imaging and operate C-arm equipment in a fast-paced clinical setting. This non-exempt role requires accurate image capture, proper coding, and collaborative patient-centered care.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, a Florida license, BLS, and experience with EMR systems. EMT or Medical Assistant background is preferred; travel to other locations may be required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Florida license to practice as Radiologic Technologist.
  • Experience as EMT or Medical Assistant preferred.
  • Certification as BMO preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate C-arm during surgeries and fluoroscopic procedures.
  • Review schedule and obtain imaging for patients.
  • Input billing codes in EHR.
  • Travel to other locations as needed.
  • Assist in clinic as needed.
  • Communicate with team to ensure patient-centered care.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES

A nonexempt position responsible for completing x-rays on patients.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operating C-arm during surgeries and fluoroscopic procedures
  • Review schedule and reconcile acquisition of appropriate imaging for all patients
  • Successfully inputting appropriate billing codes within EHR
  • Filtering tasks. Completing or reassigning as necessary
  • Reviewing schedule for the following week
  • Assisting within the office as needed
  • Traveling to all other locations when needed
  • Assisting in clinic as needed
  • Communicates with other team members in clinical and clerical areas to provide a successful patient centered practice.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent
  • BLS Certificate
  • Certified BMO (preferred)
  • Current License in the state of Florida
  • Experience as an EMT or Medical Assistant (preferred)
EXPERIENCE/OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • 1 year of relevant call center or medical experience preferred.
  • 1-2 years of customer service required.
  • 1 year of medical terminology preferred.
  • Ability to problem solve as well as critical thinking.
  • Proficient in professional and effective communication skills
  • Demonstrate a strong attention to detail and thoroughness.
  • Effectively utilize available relevant technical tools and resources (e.g. Microsoft, Outlook)
KNOWLEDGE
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of the health care field.
  • Knowledge of legal and ethical considerations related to patient information.
  • Knowledge of counseling, conflict resolution, and customer service principles and applications.
  • Knowledge of Insurance and/or experience with verification of insurance eligibility
SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Skill in putting information in preferred medical record system, meeting clinic standards.
  • Skill in diffusing tense situations through diplomatic problem-solving.
  • Skill in using computer and medical records software.
  • Skill in reading and following written and oral medical order.
  • Skill in handling several tasks simultaneously.
  • Skill intact and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff via phone, in person and through email.
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership in resolving patient concerns.
  • Ability to establish relationships with a wide variety of people.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Standing six to eight hours per day walking, stooping, bending, and maneuvering. Occasional stress from dealing with many staff and patients. May require lifting to 50 pounds to transfer and or assist a patient in standing on the scale or sitting on the exam table.
