Job summary

West Valley Hospital in Dallas, Oregon, part of Salem Health, seeks a radiologic technologist for per diem coverage in the Diagnostic Imaging department. This role supports 24/7 inpatient and emergency imaging with outpatient services on weekdays, offering a collaborative, low-volume environment and no on-call requirements.

You’ll work with a skilled team, use EPIC, Radiant, and PACS systems, and maintain patient comfort and safety while delivering high-quality images and care.

Qualifications

  • Graduated from an accredited radiologic technology program.
  • Licensed with the Oregon Board of Medical Imaging (OBMI) in Radiography.
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient care and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Set radiation exposure according to patient body type.
  • Capture high-quality diagnostic images tailored to each patient.
  • Document patient histories and symptoms.
  • Ensure patient comfort and safety during imaging.
  • Operate imaging equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Perform routine care, identify malfunctions, and report issues.
  • Use Radiant, EPIC, and PACS for imaging requests and documentation.
  • Assist with clerical duties, patient calls, order protocols, phlebotomy, rooming, and basic care as needed.

Position type:Unscheduled / Per Diem, Non-Exempt
Schedule:8, 10 or 12-hour shifts, variable scheduled days

As a radiologic technologist at West Valley Hospital, part of the Salem Healthsystem, you’ll play an essential role in providing high-quality diagnostic imaging to patients in the close-knit community of Dallas, Oregon. Our imaging services support the inpatient and emergency departments 24/7, with outpatient services operating Monday through Friday and occasional weekend coverage.This role offers a unique opportunity to work in a smaller hospital setting with a supportive team, manageable patient volumes,and no on-call requirements—allowing you to focus on delivering exceptional patient care.

Your role with us

At West Valley, you’ll be part of a highly collaborative imaging team where everyone knows each other and works together to support both patients and one another. During the day, you’ll partner with a team that includes a lead technologist, CT technologists, and fellow X-ray technologists; in the evenings, a smaller cross-trained team works together across modalities to meet patient needs. This structure creates a strong team-oriented environment where flexibility and a willingness to help wherever needed are highly valued.

Our technologists do more than capture images—they use critical thinking and clinical judgment to tailor each exam to the patient’s condition and comfort level. You’ll work with digital imaging technology including Philips and Canon portable equipment, and utilize EPIC, Radiant, and PACS systems to deliver seamless, efficient care.

What you'll do
  • Select appropriate radiation exposure settings based on the patient’s body type and condition.
  • Capture high-quality images, tailoring exams to meet the specific needs of each patient.
  • Document thorough and relevant patient histories, including symptoms and onset.
  • Provide compassionate care while ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout the imaging process.
  • Operate imaging equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Perform routine care, identify malfunctions, and report issues to ensure minimal downtime.
  • Utilize Radiant Radiology, EPIC, and PACS systems for imaging requests, documentation, and charge entry.
  • Support the care team by assisting with various tasks such as clerical duties, patient calls, order protocols, phlebotomy, rooming, POC testing, and medication administration as needed.
Required qualifications
  • Graduated from an accredited radiologic technology program.
  • Licensed with the Oregon Board of Medical Imaging (OBMI) in Radiography.
