Job summary

Cedars-Sinai is seeking a Radiologic Intervention Technologist for outpatient vascular surgery. You will perform interventional radiography, diagnostic fluoroscopy and general radiography in a collaborative imaging environment, scrubbing and circulating for procedures with sterile field management.

The role requires ARRT-compliant radiologic training, BLS, and CA CRT with fluoroscopy permit; 1 year IR experience is required and 2 years preferred.

Qualifications

  • Completion of Radiologic Technology program approved by ARRT.
  • 1 year of Interventional Radiography experience required.
  • 2 years of Interventional Radiography experience preferred.
  • BLS from American Heart Association or American Red Cross required.
  • CA CRT license and Fluoroscopy permit required upon hire.
  • ARRT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform sophisticated diagnostic and vascular/non-vascular interventional procedures (Interventional Radiography, diagnostic fluoroscopy, and diagnostic radiography).
  • Circulate and scrubs to assist physicians during procedures; prepare supplies and medications on sterile field; load devices and maintain sterile field.
  • Perform inventory management and supply ordering for interventional services.
  • Perform post-processing 3D reconstruction and QC for imaging studies.
  • Coordinate patient pre-procedure steps, triage, and ensure patient comfort and safety.
  • Acquire, archive, and transmit images via PACS; ensure timely after-hours transmission when needed.
  • Coordinate contrast administration for IR exams and document related paperwork.
  • Maintain equipment uptime and report malfunctions; may rotate across imaging modalities and sites.
  • Train staff and assist with scheduling; participate in special projects and process improvements.

The Radiologic Intervention Technologist position provides the crucial service of working alongside top-tier vascular surgeons, scrubbing into advanced minimally invasive diagnostic and interventional procedures. The Radiologic Intervention Technologist will
  • Perform sophisticated diagnostic and Vascular/Non-Vascular Interventional procedures such as Interventional Radiography, diagnostic fluoroscopy and diagnostic general radiography (x-Ray) procedures.
  • Circulates and scrubs in to assist physicians during diagnostic and interventional procedures. This includes preparing and discarding the supplies and medications needed on a sterile field, loading biopsy and other interventional devices, and ensuring that the sterile field is not contaminated.
  • Perform inventory management and process ordering of interventional supplies.
  • Perform post process sophisticated 3D reconstruction
  • Assists in performing Pre-Ops, SOP's and properly triages patient's pre-procedure
  • Performs venipunctures, draws specimens and maintains proficiencies.
  • Acquires patient questionnaire, chart, data/requisition and reviews all to determine contraindication of having an Interventional examination. Ensures patients' comfort and safety during and after the exam and educates patients regarding procedures and equipment.
  • Acquires, archives, transmits and prints images via PACS. When applicable, completes after hours transmission of images and appropriate paperwork
  • Coordinates accurate contrast related to patient having an IR exam
  • Maintains available equipment up-time at the highest level for patient accessibility. Immediately reports any malfunctions; observes potential equipment dysfunctions and reports problems or calls for service
  • May be required to rotate through all imaging modalities, sites, and/or locations
  • Perform Imaging equipment QA/QC and perform PACS/RIS QC
  • Train other staff members
  • Assist with scheduling of patients as needed
  • Actively participates in special projects and process improvement
Education:

Vocational/Technical Diploma, Completion of Radiologic Technology program approved by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists required

Work Experience:
  • 1 year Experience in Interventional Radiography required
  • 2 years Experience in Interventional Radiography preferred
Licenses and Certifications:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association or American Red Cross required
  • Imaging CA Radiologic Tech Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT)- CA State License. Upon Hire required
  • Imaging CA Radiologic Tech State of California CRT Fluoroscopy Permit Upon Hire required
  • Imaging CA Radiologic Tech American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) preferred
