QSA Global, Inc. is seeking an experienced Radioisotope Production Chemist for the second shift to support expansion of medical radiopharmaceuticals and brachytherapy applications. You will work on Ra-226 and Am-241 handling, purification, and process optimization in a regulated lab setting.

The role emphasizes collaboration with R&D, production, RA/QA, and engineering teams, ensuring safety, quality, and regulatory compliance while delivering reliable radiochemical workflows.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Radiochemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related technical field.
  • 2+ years of laboratory experience, preferably with radioisotopes or hazardous materials.
  • Familiarity with radium and/or actinide chemistry or related radioisotopes is highly desirable.
  • Hands-on experience with preparing, isolating, and manipulating radioisotopes in a lab or production setting, including glove boxes, hot cells, fume hoods, and detectors.
  • Experience with separation technologies (Ion-Exchange, Liquid-Liquid Extractions, Chromatographic Techniques).
  • Experience with techniques like ICP-MS, ICP-OES, SEM, XRD, and Gamma Spectroscopy is desirable but not mandatory.
  • Understanding radioisotopes’ properties, decay mechanisms, radiation types, and applications in scientific and medical settings.
  • Strong foundation in inorganic/physical chemistry, materials chemistry, and analytical techniques for radioisotope handling.
  • Experience with radioactive materials is preferred, but experience with chemical synthesis or handling dangerous chemicals will be considered.
  • Collaboration across R&D, production, RA/QA, and engineering design; entrepreneurial mindset and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in producing, separating, and purifying radioisotopes, focusing on Ra-226 and Am-241.
  • Operate and maintain equipment for radioisotope handling, including hot cells, glove boxes, fume hoods, detectors, and synthesis apparatus.
  • Follow established procedures and safety protocols while performing complex tasks.
  • Support the scaling and optimization of radiochemical processes.
  • Monitor and record process data for accuracy and quality compliance.
  • Prepare radioactive materials for experiments and production runs.
  • Maintain a clean and safe lab following GLP and radiation safety guidelines.
  • Assist in preparing reports, logs, and records of operations.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of radiochemistry equipment.
  • Adhere to regulatory requirements for handling, storing, and disposing of radioactive materials.
