Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Radiologic Technologist for weekend day shifts to perform diagnostic imaging, including trauma and fluoroscopy, with emphasis on safety and image quality.

Responsibilities include operating imaging equipment, protecting patients from radiation, and documenting exams in RIS/PACS. The role may rotate between offsite locations and requires MA radiography licensure and ARRT certification.

Qualifications

  • Two years of formal Radiologic Technology training.
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Licensed in radiography by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Good interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all aspects of diagnostic radiology including trauma, orthopedic, fluoroscopy, GU contrast exams, operative and portable exams.
  • Operates imaging equipment and related devices.
  • Positions patients to obtain diagnostic information.
  • Ensures radiation safety and proper exposure factors.
  • Evaluates image quality and repeats when necessary with appropriate justification.
  • Documents exams in RIS/PACS and completes Meditech entries.

Schedule: Weekend Day shifts. Three 12-hour shifts available.

Job Description:

Primary Responsibilities:

Performs all aspects of diagnostic radiology to include trauma, orthopedic, fluoroscopy, G.U. contrast exams, operative and portable exams.

Able to operate imaging equipment and other devices as appropriate.

Positions patients to obtain anatomic information.

Calculates exposure factors and collimates correctly to reduce radiation exposure to patients. Practices radiation protection for patients and personnel.

Evaluates images for technical quality and uses sound judgement to take additional images to better demonstrate pathology.

Evaluates orders for appropriate history and clinical information and seeks guidance on correct exam if questionable.

Reports all equipment malfunctions and hazards to appropriate supervisor.

Interacts professionally and courteously with patients, co-workers, and medical staff. Assists in training of student radiographers.

Utilizes time productively and appropriately with respect to patient flow, room use, stocking of supplies, and clerical duties to increase department efficiency.

Ensures that patient wait times are minimized.

Spends more than 90% of working time on productive tasks without supervisory prompting.

Follows Universal Precaution guidelines with each patient

Attends yearly "Blood-borne pathogens/OSHA" inservice.

Practices aseptic technique when necessary.

Produces an accurate RIS and PACS record of each exam.

Completes all Meditech entries and edits orders to reflect correct exam.

Uses appropriate markers.

Sends complete record to PACS on correct accession number.

Pursues continuing education by attending department and hospital wide programs, regional seminars, and/or college courses.

Meets ARRT standards.

Meets Massachusetts State licensing standards.

Provides flexbilityin rotating between all offsite locations

Performs any task for which the employee is competent.

Required Qualifications:

Social/Environmental Requirements:

Requires standing, bending, pushing, pulling, reaching above the head, moving about the department and hospital, and/or lifting more than 75% of the time.

Exposure to radiation, infectious diseases, chemicals, and hazardous materials 75% of the time.

Ability to hear conversation, comprehend, and communicate in spoken and written English more than 75% of the time.

Ability to wear protective equipment, such as gloves, masks, gowns, and lead aprons.

Ability to work and move about in confined spaces.

Pay Range:

$36.00 - $53.49

The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geographyof work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
