Are you an experienced radioactive waste or hazardous waste professional with strong knowledge of RCRA, DOT, and NRC regulations, looking to develop your technical expertise and become a specialist in radioactive waste characterization, compliance, and shipping?

On offer is the opportunity to apply your existing industry knowledge to complex radioactive waste shipments, develop further qualifications, and become a technical expert in the characterization, classification, packaging, and regulatory compliance of radioactive materials.

The company is an established specialist in the safe disposal of radioactive waste from decommissioned nuclear sites. With plans for further expansion, the business offers a stable, family-oriented environment where employees are supported and encouraged to develop their careers.

You will be responsible for evaluating waste streams, verifying compliance with shipping and disposal requirements, and ensuring radioactive waste is correctly characterized, packaged, and documented before shipment. Working closely with customers, project managers, and site operations teams, you will develop your specialist knowledge while taking ownership of technically complex assignments.

This role would suit an experienced waste management professional with knowledge of radioactive waste regulations looking to deepen their technical expertise, take ownership of complex shipping requirements, and develop their career within the nuclear industry.

The Role:
  • Characterize, classify, and profile low-level and mixed low-level radioactive waste, ensuring compliance with RCRA, DOT, NRC, and applicable waste acceptance criteria
  • Review customer waste data, verify treatment and sampling requirements, inspect packaging, and prepare compliant shipping documentation
  • Work closely with customers, project managers, and operations teams to resolve technical issues and ensure shipments meet regulatory and disposal requirements
The Candidate:
  • Relevant waste management experience, ideally involving radioactive or hazardous waste
  • Strong working knowledge of RCRA, DOT regulations (including 49 CFR 172 Appendix H), NRC requirements, and waste characterization and profiling
  • Experience preparing or reviewing waste shipment documentation and ensuring compliance with packaging, classification, and transportation requirements
