Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college with major coursework in health physics, nuclear or environmental engineering, environmental or natural sciences, chemistry, or a related field.
  • Four years of experience may be substituted for education; meeting all minimum requirements is not guaranteed.
  • Six criteria are generally preferred: regulatory experience, inspector background, RSO experience, health physics, regulatory/quality control exposure, and supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Radioactive Materials Licensing Branch statewide operations and licensing delivery.
  • Direct licensing policy development, regulatory program administration, and technical review standards.
  • Manage staff performance, development, and resource planning; coordinate staffing and training.
  • Provide technical leadership on complex licensing actions, rulemaking, and program improvement.
  • Coordinate leadership with Radiation Section, cross-functional groups, and external stakeholders.
  • Perform additional duties including disaster response and COOP as needed.
