Under the direct supervision of the Police Duty Supervisor, the Radio Room Operator is responsible for receiving emergency and non-emergency calls for service within BHA developments, determining the nature of the call and the needs of the caller and assigning the appropriate police, medical, fire or other emergency unit for response.

Must be 19 years of age or older. Must have a high school diploma or GED, a certificate of higher education is preferred. Must be a citizen of the United States. Must read, write and speak the English language. Can not have any felony convictions. Candidates will be subjected to a full Board of Probation (BOP) review. Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, rotating shifts, flexible shifts and extended tours of duty. Must successfully complete all dispatcher training and maintain certifications required to operate on the required systems or programs. Candidates must be able to be trusted with sensitive information. The ideal candidate must be able to work in a collaborative environment and be a willing participant in a team centered approach to service delivery. Candidates with knowledge and experience using computer systems and programs are desirable.
