Job summary

The State of Ohio seeks a Radio Dispatcher to monitor radio activity, dispatch agency personnel and police, and log emergency calls at the Veterans Services facility in Sandusky. The role includes issuing IDs, handling switchboard calls, and coordinating with multiple safety agencies.

Qualifications

• Formal education that includes reading, writing & speaking English.

Responsibilities

• Monitors all radio activity & operates police/OH Veterans Home radio system to dispatch agency personnel & police & safety personnel to all emergency calls.
• Dispatches medical transportation drivers when resident Transport Dispatch Worker is unavailable.
• Logs all emergency/dispatch calls.
• Answers agency switchboard and directs calls to departments & residents.
• Operates emergency phones & general police lines when officers are not on station.
• Relays information to police and safety personnel and coordinates location of residents.
• Monitors all systems at Central Monitoring Console area and coordinates dispatches.
• Monitors MARCS radio traffic with OSHP and other agencies.
• Notifies staff of secure care unit resident activity and emergency advisories.
• Issues completed ID badges and logs requests for badges and keys.
