The Sheriff's Wireless Services Division maintains radio communications for San Diego County departments and the San Diego County-Imperial County Regions Communications System (NextGen RCS). The system consists of a 100+ node MPLS microwave network, a 700+ channel Astro P25 Phase I/Phase II 800 MHz trunking system, 50+ radios communication facilities, and over 200 conventional interoperability repeaters. It provides critical public safety communications to over 20,000 radio users throughout San Diego and Imperial counties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Three (3) years of full-time professional engineering experience in electronic communications, including working with large, multi-site radio and/or microwave networks; AND
2. Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency in electrical, electronics, telecommunications engineering, or a related field; OR
2. An equivalent combination of education and experience totaling seven (7) years.
Note: Experience with land mobile radios, trunked radio systems, microwave transport networks, and IP-based communications systems is highly desirable. Knowledge of engineering design and drawing programs like AutoCAD is also highly desirable.

THE EVALUATION PROCESS
