Radiation Therapy Technologists perform a wide variety of technical therapeutic procedures by the application of ionizing radiation from radioactive materials or generators to treat benign or malignant diseases of the body; and perform other related duties as assigned.
They typically confer with Radiation Oncologists and work closely with Dosimetrists to discuss treatment plans, place reference markings on patients, review treatment procedures with patients, position patients, set up equipment, monitor reactions, and record dosage values.
The role may also include calculating prescribed dosages, assisting in preparing applicators, operating simulation and radiographic equipment, evaluating film quality, performing minor equipment adjustments, and evaluating equipment for modifications.
Annual Full Pay Range: $118,181 - $146,933. Hourly: $56.60 - $70.37. Compensation factors include experience, skills, education, licensure, and organizational needs.
