Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System is seeking a Radiation Therapy Assistant - PRN for the Bloch Radiation Oncology Pavilion in Kansas City, MO. You will assist Radiation Therapists, transfer patients, observe for changes, and help prepare treatment rooms to support timely care.

Responsibilities include coordinating information between nursing and therapy staff, accessing EMR data in ARIA/O2, entering notes, and educating patients and families about procedures. PRN, part-time schedule.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate required.
  • Preferred experience in caring for acute, ED, or long-term care patients.

Responsibilities

  • Provides constant patient observation while in immediate care area.
  • Coordinates information between nursing unit and Radiation Therapy staff.
  • Accesses patient information in the EMR prior to patient’s treatment.
  • Enters information into O2/ARIA to assist Radiation Therapists.
  • Maintains a patient-centered focus and supports hospital goals.
  • Prepares treatment rooms before and after patient exams.
  • Transport patients to and from Radiation Oncology department.
  • Attends to patient’s comfort during transport and in the department.
  • Performs daily work assignments with accuracy, such as coordinating inpatient/outpatient schedules.
  • Provides education to patients, families, and nursing units regarding radiation therapy procedures.
