Responsibilities

1. Administers Radiation Therapy treatments in compliance with physician prescription and treatment plan.
2. Reproduces setup in the treatment room as indicated in electronic chart utilizing appropriate positioning/immobilization devices.
3. Maintains visual and audible contact with patients at all times.
4. Reports all errors to Technical Coordinator, Medical Physicist, and Physician.
5. Identifies patient prior to treatment utilizing EMR queueing system and patient identifiers.
6. Ensures patient privacy throughout treatment process.
7. Checks all physics plans prior to patients starting treatments and boosts.
8. Maintains accurate treatment records, including updating treatment data daily, proper billing, and documenting all patient information in EMR.
9. Assists the physician in localizing tumor volumes utilizing CT Simulator, including measuring, recording parameters, obtaining CT images, and documenting information.
10. Schedules patient for subsequent visits and completes all QCL's.
11. Participates in on-call rotation, computing dose calculations and utilizing computerized systems.
12. Performs and records daily and weekly QA machine checks, reporting malfunctions and participating in warm-up programs.
13. Assists in patient education regarding treatments and side effects, reinforcing physician and RN advice, and facilitating patient self-care.
14. Instructs and supervises students during training.
15. Participates in quality improvement programs, including chart rounds, feedback, and safety inservices.

Minimum Requirements

• Radiation Oncology Certificate and/or Associates degree in Radiation Therapy Technology.
• Knowledge of computer systems, ARRT registry eligibility or license, IEMA license, CPR certification.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds, standard precautions for body substances and radiation safety.
