Job summary

UMC Health System seeks a Radiation Therapist to perform the technical aspects of radiation therapy with a focus on accuracy, safety, simulation, dosimetry and patient education. The role includes educating and monitoring students and other health care providers.

The candidate will demonstrate knowledge of treatment plans, verify films, maintain patient charts, and work with the oncology care team. A radiation therapy degree and active ARRT license are required.

Qualifications

• Certificate, Associate Degree, or Bachelor’s Degree required from a Radiation Therapy Program that is programmatically accredited or part of an institution that is regionally accredited.
• Experience in Radiation Therapy, 1 year minimum.
• Current ARRT in Radiation Therapy.
• Current license from the Texas Medical Board - Medical Radiologic Technologist - General Certificate.
• Current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Delivers accurately the prescribed planned course of radiation therapy with minimal supervision.
• Maintains and submits daily accurate patient chart information, charges, and schedules.
• Explains procedures to the patient and communicates during treatment and emergency protocols.
• Educates and monitors students and other health care providers.
• Demonstrates knowledge of verification and simulation films and physician prescriptions.
