Job summary

AdventHealth Parker Colorado is seeking a part-time Radiation Therapist to evaluate imaging, verify treatment parameters, and perform QA on the treatment unit under physician direction. You will document in the EHR, ensure ALARA safety, and support students on supervised rotations.

Requirements include RT(T) ARRt and BLS, Associate’s degree (Bachelor’s preferred), 1+ year experience preferred, and proficiency with radiation therapy software and treatment planning systems.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates prescribed imaging and makes requested changes within 24 hours, accurately documenting treatment information in the patient electronic record and utilizing the record and verify system.
• Reviews all new starts for consistency prior to treatment, verifying patient positioning and field orientation, and checking the record and verify system for prescription, treatment parameters, doses, treatment accessories, and monitor units.
• Performs morning Quality Assurance (QA) on the treatment unit, assessing whether all equipment is operating according to physics policy and calling the appropriate person immediately after equipment malfunctions.
• Assists in maintaining department supplies and provides supervised education experiences for students that fulfill curriculum requirements of the academic institution.
• As required by facility, participates in after hours on-call coverage, maintains competency with afterhours treatment coverage, performs 2D treatment calculations, and works with minimal direction and supervision.
• Verifies the physician’s prescription and treatment parameters daily to ensure accurate treatment of the patient in accordance with the prescription and treatment plan.
• Identifies the treatment volume and positions the patient in a consistent and reproducible manner.
• Asesses patients’ needs and actively seeks to resolve any potential problems or conflicts, consulting with the chief therapist/supervisor as necessary.
• Treats patients in a timely and courteous manner, handling stressful situations appropriately and communicating effectively with patients of all ages.
• Clinically observes patient reactions to treatment and assists in accommodating the patient through the treatment process.
• Performs all aspects of CT Simulation, including administering contrast agents during simulation localization under the direction of a physician or non-physician practitioner.
• Immediately reports and documents adverse reactions to the managing physician and site leaders.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
