Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with relevant experience or an associate's/technical degree.
• Graduate of an accredited radiation therapy program.
• One of the listed certifications is required within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Review prescriptions to determine treatment type and area.
• Administer ionizing radiation as prescribed by the physician.
• Verify dose and document treatment in patient charts.
• Assist with scheduling and coordinating daily treatments for patients.
• Refer patients to social workers or medical staff as appropriate.
• Maintain treatment rooms and ensure supplies are stocked.

Education

High School diploma or equivalent with 2 years of cumulative experience OR associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience

Graduate of an accredited school of radiation therapy

Cardio graphic Tech credentialed from CCI OR Radiologic Technologist specializing in Radiation Therapy credentialed from ARRT (within 12 months of hire) OR Medical Sonographer credentialed from ARDMS (within 12 months of hire) OR BLS Provider credentialed from AHA

As a Therapist-Radiation, you will play a vital role in administering radiation therapy to patients by delivering prescribed doses of radiation to specific areas of the body. You will work closely with physicians and dosimetrists to ensure accurate and effective treatment plans, contributing directly to patient recovery and well-being. • Reviews patient prescriptions to ascertain type of treatment required, location ofaffected areas, history of previous radiation treatment, etc.
• Utilizes appropriate treatment accessories as prescribed by the physician.
• Administers ionizing radiation as prescribed per physician.
• Verifies radiation prescription prior to treatment and confirms total radiation dose following treatment in patient charts.
• Documents treatment in inpatient charts.
• Completes on-going imaging of patients per departmental policy.
• Assists patients in coordinating appointment time for daily treatments, accommodating patient transportation, and other appointments.
• Refers patients to social worker for counseling, transportation and medical equipment needs, etc. as appropriate.
• Refers patients to nurse or physician for conditions requiring evaluation, as appropriate.
• Assumes the duties of simulation.
• Rotates through treatment areas as assigned.
• Responsible for cleaning therapy rooms and work area; maintains linen and medical supplies for treatment rooms.
• Adheres to the quality assurance policies of the department (chart checks, timeouts, machine warm-up, etc.).
• Teaches radiation therapy students as defined by their educational requirements.
• Performs all other duties as assigned or requested

Required Qualifications

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience.
• Graduate of an accredited school of radiation therapy.
• One or more of the following certifications required: Cardio graphic Tech credentialed from CCI, Radiologic Technologist specializing in Radiation Therapy credentialed from ARRT (within 12 months of hire), Medical Sonographer credentialed from ARDMS (within 12 months of hire), BLS Provider credentialed from AHA.

Preferred Qualifications

• Varian/ARIA experience preferred.
