Summary

Administers radiation therapy as prescribed by a physician, following applicable standards and policies, and within the organization's values and mission. Travels between LVHN/LVPG Radiation Oncology sites as needed. Trains and mentors new radiation therapists and students, in addition to performing routine duties.

Job Duties

• Delivers prescribed radiation therapy to patients, monitoring continuously during treatment. Schedules appointments, answers patient questions, and explains procedures.
• Acts as a liaison between patients and care team, reinforcing treatment and care instructions, and observing for reactions or adverse events.
• Monitors radiation equipment inventory and adheres to safety regulations regarding radiation exposure.
• Participates in CT Simulation procedures and other treatments as required.
• Participates in on-call duties if applicable.
• Keeps current with developments and trends in radiation therapy and equipment.
• Mentors and teaches students and new employees, supporting ongoing education and training.

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Radiation Therapy or equivalent; or Technical School Diploma from an accredited Radiation Therapy Program.
• At least 2 years of experience as a Radiation Therapist, ARRT Board Certified.
• Analytical skills to resolve problems using scientific, mathematical, or technical principles.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding patients and team members.
• Effective communication skills for scheduling, documentation, and patient interaction.
• Experience with electronic health records.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification within 90 days of hire.
• State of Pennsylvania Radiation Therapy ARRT certification.
• State of Pennsylvania Radiology Technologist registration upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Radiation Therapy or equivalent.

Physical Demands

Ability to lift and carry 40–50 lbs, perform patient transfers, and stand/walk for extended periods. Activities may include kneeling, bending, squatting, and performing CPR as required.
