Qualifications

Job description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a 32 hrs/wk Radiation Therapy Tech to join our team at the Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care.

The Radiation Therapist provides computed tomography imaging and administers radiation therapy as prescribed by a physician, following applicable standards and organizational policies, values, and mission.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
  • Maine State Radiologic Technologist license required.
  • Registered as a Radiologic Technologist (RT) and certified in radiation therapy (T) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider preferred.
Job Responsibilities:
  1. Review patient history, physician's orders, and radiation therapy treatment plan. Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation.
  2. Determine patient treatment plan in collaboration with the physician and dosimetrist. Deliver therapy according to the treatment plan. Monitor patient condition and respond to changes as needed.
  3. Prepare equipment and supplies, including the linear accelerator. Select appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters. Implement safety standards and perform quality control procedures. Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions.
  4. Position patients and perform imaging procedures. Analyze results and address image quality issues, including repositioning patients and repeating procedures.
