Job summary

UT Health Athens in Athens, TX is seeking a Radiation Therapist for day shift, PRN coverage. The role delivers prescribed radiation treatments, performs QA and shielding tasks, and supports patients and families throughout therapy.

You will supervise student rotations and ensure safe, accurate treatment delivery. Qualified candidates are graduates of accredited radiation therapy programs, registered with ARRT in Radiation Therapy and licensed in Texas.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved school of radiation therapy technology or a school of radiologic technology with a one-year radiation therapy program.
• Must be registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology in Radiation Therapy and licensed by the State of Texas.

Responsibilities

• Deliver radiation therapy treatments to cancer patients as prescribed by the physician and directed by the physics department.
• Perform manual calculations and fabricate custom shielding blocks.
• Perform QA checks and warm-up Linear Accelerators.
• Maintain communication with patients and families to provide information and support during treatment.
• Supervise all phases of student clinical rotations.

Get to Know Your Team:

• UT Health Athens is a 127-bed facility, including a 24-hour ED, designated as a Level IV trauma center and Level IV stroke center; advanced diagnostic technology; 10-bed ICU; maternity unit radiation therapy center; and a stand‑alone ED in Gun Barrel City.

Responsibilities

• The Radiation Therapist Delivers radiation therapy treatments to cancer patients as prescribed by the physician and directed by the physics department.
• Perform manual calculations.
• Fabricate custom shielding blocks.
• Perform Q.A. checks and warm-up Linear Accelerators.
• Maintain constant communication with patients and family members to lend support and provide information concerning treatment.
