Job summary

Ardent Health Services in Athens, TX seeks a day shift, full-time Medical Physicist to support Radiation Oncology at UT Health Athens. You will calibrate equipment, deliver precise radiation treatments, and perform dose calculations for patient care.

The role requires a Master's in medical physics with ABR eligibility, Texas licensure, and CAMPEP residency in consideration. You will collaborate with clinicians and help evaluate new tech while ensuring safety and quality.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in medical physics is required.
  • ABR board eligibility or certification is required or preferred.
  • Texas licensure is required to practice.
  • Completion of a CAMPEP approved residency is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate radiation treatments to ensure precise delivery and high-quality care for patients.
  • Address theoretical and practical problems of measurements of ionizing radiation under clinical conditions.
  • Calibrate radiation-producing and detecting equipment, including nuclear medical apparatus, and measure radiation output of treatment sources and generators.
  • Provide dose‑calculation services for patient treatment and diagnosis using various sources, and support other departments.
  • Assist in evaluating and implementing innovative radiation oncology software and hardware technologies.
  • Develop proformas to justify new Radiation Oncology technologies.

Get to Know Your Team:
  • UT Health Athens is a 127-bed facility, including a 24-hour ED, designated as a Level IV trauma center and Level III stroke center; advanced diagnostic technology; 10-bed ICU; maternity unit radiation therapy center; and a stand‑alone ED in Gun Barrel City.
Responsibilities
  • Facilitate radiation treatments to ensure precise delivery and high-quality care for patients.
  • Address theoretical and practical problems of measurements of ionizing radiation under clinical conditions.
  • Calibrate radiation-producing and detecting equipment, including nuclear medical apparatus, and measure radiation output of treatment sources and generators.
  • Provide all necessary dose‑calculation services for patient treatment and diagnosis using external, interstitial, intracavitary, and distributed internal sources, as well as consultation and collaboration services for other departments using radiation in any form.
  • Assist in the evaluation, selection, and implementation of innovative software and hardware technologies pertinent to Radiation Oncology.
  • Performs and/or assists in developing a Proforma to justify new Radiation Oncology technologies.
