Job summary

OSF HealthCare is seeking a Radiation Therapist to support daily patient flow in the Radiation Oncology clinic. You will assist physicians by treating patients with prescribed ionizing radiation, preparing rooms, positioning patients and delivering treatments using specialized equipment.

You will monitor patients during therapy, simulate treatments, and help design device setups to match treatment plans while ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout their care pathway.

  • Understanding of radiation therapy procedures and physics as taught in an approved program.

Expected pay for this position is $39.13 - $51.21/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is an Hourly position.

This is a PRN position.

Overview
Position Summary

The Radiation Therapist will assist with the daily patient flow of the Radiation Oncology clinical location, evaluate/develop new process for patient care, and assisting with other activities to improve Radiation Oncology operations. According to established procedures, assists physicians by treating patients with prescribed doses of ionizing radiation supplied and controlled through specialized radiation equipment. In doing so, prepares treatment room, explains procedures to patients, positions patients and administers treatments. Monitors patients during therapy sessions in order to ensure patients' comfort and to observe changes in patients' condition. Simulates patient treatment according to the treatment plan and delivers prescribed doses of ionizing radiation supplied and controlled through specialized radiation equipment. Designs and constructs custom treatment devices for individual patients. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the ages of the patients served.

License/Certifications
  • Current Radiation Therapy license issued by IEMA Department of Nuclear Safety AN
  • ARRT Radiology registered or successful completion of ARRT Radiology registry within 6 months of hire.
Experience
  • Knowledge of radiation therapy procedures and equipment operation, and of physics and patient care techniques at a level acquired through an approved program in radiation therapy technology, usually lasting one year beyond radiography training.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary in order to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, allied health personnel, and other Medical Center personnel when explaining procedures and gathering and exchanging patient-related information.
  • Analytical skills necessary in order to provide accurate care instructions to patients, interpret physicians' prescriptions for treatment course and effectively duplicate treatment plan.
