Job summary

Berkeley Lab in Berkeley, CA seeks a Radiation Control Technician Team Supervisor to lead the Radiation Control Technicians, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance across Laboratory facilities such as the Advanced Light Source, 88-Inch Cyclotron, BELLA, and the Molecular Foundry.

The role provides SME support on radiation protection, radiological materials, and radiation-generating devices to the Lab community.

Qualifications

• At least 10 years of operational radiation protection field experience.
• Experience supervising exempt/non-exempt staff with clear direction.
• Knowledge of federal/state/local regulations governing radioactive materials and devices.
• Broad expertise in health physics for research environments.
• Must meet DOE Radiological Control Technician qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Supervise non-exempt Radiation Control Technicians and ensure timely task completion.
• Schedule RCTs balancing compliance with field support needs.
• Coordinate cross-training and assess staff performance.
• Develop Work Planning and Control documents, survey plans, and training materials.
• Review operations procedures and safety documents.
• Ensure compliance with surveys, dosimetry, postings, labeling, and training.
