The Nuclear Safety Inspector I position with the State of Illinois' Illinois Emergency Management Agency and Office of Homeland Security conducts inspections of x-ray and laser systems at medical, veterinary, and industrial facilities throughout Illinois.

The role measures radiation levels, documents findings, advises facility staff on compliance, and supports emergency response activities to ensure public safety and regulatory adherence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or physics plus 1 year of appropriate experience.
• Associate degree plus 3 years of experience.
• Formal training in x-ray technology or Associate degree in Radiological Technology is preferred.
• Experience operating medical and/or industrial radiography equipment.
