Job summary

Duke Energy is seeking Radiation Protection Technician II or III to ensure radiological safety during routine and post-accident conditions. The role includes surveys, dose assessment, and conservative decision making.

Responsibilities include room and area surveys, radiological coverage for maintenance, hazard briefings, and data interpretation. Relocation within 75 minutes of the nuclear plant may be required; travel up to 15% is anticipated.

Qualifications

• Two year degree (AS) in radiation protection or equivalent training.
• Minimum three years experience in lieu of degree.
• Experience in radiation protection, chemistry or computer science preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform surveys of rooms and plant areas to document changing radiological conditions.
• Provide radiological job coverage to ensure regulatory and procedural requirements are met.
• Brief Radiation workers on radiological hazards of the work area.
• Calculate air sample results and evaluate radiological conditions against procedures.
