Job summary

Xcel Energy is seeking an experienced Radiation Protection Technician to lead and direct physical protection for power plant operations. The role covers radiation surveys, ALARA coverage, dosimetry, and coordination with maintenance teams to ensure safe, compliant operations.

Ideal candidates will have RP technician experience, ANSI N18.1-1971 senior qualification, and readiness to qualify for Fire Brigade duties. On-site duties with comprehensive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience as an RP Technician.
• ANSI N18.1-1971 senior (responsible) technician definition.
• One year of technical training preferred.
• Eligible for Fire Brigade duties (Monticello).

Responsibilities

• Conduct radiation surveys for plant ops, maintenance, and outages.
• Plan and perform radiological work with ALARA coverage.
• Maintain dosimetry and equipment using Sentinel and SAP.
• Coordinate dose estimates and write Radiation Work Permits as needed.
• Support general radiation and contamination surveys as required.
