Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a 1.0 FTE Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the Radiation Oncology Division in Urbana, Illinois. The APP will work within a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with radiation oncologists, medical oncologists, surgeons and other specialists to deliver inpatient and outpatient cancer care on a daily basis.

Overview

Carle Cancer Institute is looking to add a 1.0 FTE Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to its Radiation Oncology Division in Urbana, Illinois.

Opportunity Details

In this role, you will get the unique opportunity to be part of a multidisciplinary team committed to advancing cancer treatment in Central Illinois. The APP will be fully integrated within the institute, equipped with best practices in the delivery of high-quality care with the opportunity to collaborate with medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, surgeons, and other specialists in providing inpatient as well as outpatient care for patients. This position offers the opportunity to enhance oncology expertise and become an integral member of disease-specific tumor boards, with active participation in case presentations and multidisciplinary clinics. The Carle Cancer Institute and inter-connected Carle Foundation Hospital are conveniently located on the same campus in Urbana, Illinois and dedicated to providing high-quality care to patients. This role will not result in exposure to radiation from external beam therapy as Carle utilizes advanced technology to safely deliver treatment

Collaboration
  • Mentorship, education, and supervision will be provided by experienced radiation oncologists.
  • You will work in multi-disciplinary approach with medical oncologists, surgeons, genetics, nursing and other specialized services.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assessment and care planning for inpatient cases in need of radiation oncology consultations
  • Coordination of care for patients receiving radiation therapy, concurrent chemotherapy, and brachytherapy
  • Management of treatment symptoms for patients undergoing radiation therapy
  • Conduction of outpatient follow-up care for a subset of patients completing radiation therapy
Schedule
  • Monday - Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, no work on weekends and major US holidays.
  • No evening or weekend on-call.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree from accredited PA program or completion of a master’s level advanced practice nurse program
  • Active license in State of IL and Active DEA license or ability to apply for such license prior to or upon hire
  • Experience in oncology is a plus but not required and new graduates eager to learn the practice of Radiation Oncology are encouraged to apply

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $60.72 - $78.94/hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
