Responsibilities

• Evaluate and treat cancer patients (inpatient and outpatient) for palliative and curative aims.
• Develop and document individualized treatment plans using advanced modalities (3D‑conformal, VMAT, IMRT, IGRT, SBRT, SRS).
• Conduct consultations, pretreatment evaluations, and obtain informed consent.
• Monitor treatment and document care in CPRS/ARIA/Eclipse systems.
• Participate in weekly peer review conferences and tumor boards.
• Provide follow-up evaluations within 30–60 days post‑treatment and discharge summaries.
• Ensure compliance with VA standards and HIPAA guidelines.
• Assist with quality assurance, staff meetings, and incident reporting.
• Maintain patient medical records per VA policies; be available for on‑call coverage.

Overview

Ansible Government Solutions, LLC (Ansible) is recruiting a Radiation Oncologist to provide onsite services to eligible beneficiaries of the San Juan VA Medical Center located at 10 Casia Street, One Veterans Plaza, San Juan, PR 00921. Shift scheduling is generally Monday‑Friday, 7:30 am‑4:00 pm with on‑call coverage. Full‑time and Locum Tenens positions with generous compensation packages are available.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and treat cancer patients (inpatient and outpatient) for both palliative and curative purposes.
• Develop and document individualized treatment plans, including advanced modalities (3D‑conformal, VMAT, IMRT, IGRT, SBRT, SRS).
• Conduct patient consultations, pretreatment evaluations, and obtain informed consent.
• Monitor patients during treatment, adjust prescriptions as needed, and document all care in the VA’s electronic health record systems (CPRS and ARIA/Eclipse).
• Participate in weekly peer review conferences, tumor boards, and quality improvement meetings.
• Provide follow‑up evaluations within 30–60 days post‑treatment and document treatment discharge summaries.
• Ensure compliance with all VA, national, and accrediting body standards for radiation oncology practice.
• Participate in administrative duties, including quality assurance, staff meetings, and reporting of incidents or adverse events.
• Maintain and protect patient medical records in accordance with VA policies and HIPAA.
• Be available for on‑call coverage during clinic off‑hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements

• Sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift.
• Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist.
• Lift up to 20 lbs.
• Carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance.
• Push/pull with 30 lbs of force.

Qualifications

• Board Certified in Radiation Oncology (American Board of Radiology or equivalent), with up‑to‑date continuing education.
• Active, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.
• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience excluding clinical experience.
• Maintain an active AHA BLS and ACLS certification.
• Provide NPI report printout.
• Active DEA license.
• Must be able to pass a federal background investigation.
