Job summary

Tidelands Health is seeking a Radiation Dosimetrist to develop treatment plans using CT scans, PET/CT fusion software, and planning systems. You will work with Radiation Oncologists and Physicists to deliver prescribed doses while sparing healthy tissue, guiding therapists and contributing to safe, effective patient care.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited medical dosimetry program required.
  • Minimum 3 years experience as a Medical Dosimetrist required.
  • Certified Medical Dosimetrist - Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board required.
  • Radiography license from SC Radiation Quality Standards Association required.
  • Basic Life Support certification within 30 days required.

Responsibilities

  • Design dosimetrist plans for delivery of radiation treatments meeting physician objectives.
  • Collaborate with physicians and physicists during planning and development.
  • Provide technical direction to CT technologists and radiation therapists.
  • Maintain high-quality CT scans and ensure data for planning is captured.
  • Ensure continuity of patient care and optimal outcomes.
  • Develop technical procedures and treatment protocols.
  • Instruct students and residents in dosimetry functions and planning system usage.
  • Assist physicists with planning, source prep, treatment delivery, and brachytherapy documentation

A Brief Overview

The Dosimetrist, under the direction of the Radiation Oncologist and the Physicist develops treatment plans using the CT scanner, Pet/CT fusion software, Treatment Planning Computer and clinical set-up. Confers with the Radiation Oncologist to give prescribed doses to tumor volume while sparing surrounding tissues. Under the direction of a Radiation Oncologist assists and confirms new start treatment set-ups with radiation therapists. Follows all prescribed patient and treatment and safety protocols and completes other duties as assigned all while exhibiting exemplary core customer skills.

What you will do
  • Design dosimetrist plans for the delivery of radiation treatments which meet the physicians objectives and physics precision requirements
  • Work cooperatively and effectively with physicians and physicists during the treatment planning process and any procedural development
  • Provide technical direction as needed to CT technologist, Radiation Therapist and other support personnel. Ensure CT scans are of high quality and all slices and information needed for treatment planning are captured
  • Provide technical continuity of patient care to provide optimal outcomes
  • Assist in the development of technical procedures and treatment protocols
  • Instruct students and residents in carious dosimetry functions and in the general use of the dosimetry planning system
  • Assist physicists in dosimetrist planning, source preparation, treatment delivery, radiation safety procedures, and documentation of brachytherapy applications
Education Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited medical dosimetry program Required
Experience Qualifications
  • Minimum (3) three year experience as a Medical Dosimetrist Required
Skills and Abilities
  • Strong PC skills, required.
  • Exemplary core customer service skills strongly, required.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, required
Licenses and Certifications
  • Certified Medical Dosimetrist - Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board Required
  • Radiography - South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association Required
  • Basic Life Support Certified - American Heart Association within 30 Days Required
