Rad Tech, Operating Room, Surgery Services Radiology

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supports Operating Room by providing Radiology guidance for cases; knowledgeable of all aspects of OR to include Radiology protocols and equipment.
  • Provides on‑call support for Operating Room by participating in mandatory call rotation.
  • Troubleshoots equipment‑related issues as needed and reports any issues to appropriate leadership.
  • Inserts intravenous lines in preparation for radiologic studies.
  • Performs imaging for myelograms, therapeutic chemotherapy, venograms, arthrograms, and other studies requiring intravenous or subdural injection of contrast medium.
  • May assist physician with biopsy and aspiration procedures, practicing sterile technique as required; sets up sterile trays with all supplies and instruments needed for procedures.
  • Provides assistance with transportation of patients to and from the Emergency Room and In‑Patient areas.
  • Performs portable x‑ray imaging as ordered.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
  • Regularly performs the duties and responsibilities of the Radiologic Technologist, providing routine radiographic examinations according to specific operating instructions and safety standards.
  • Determines proper technical factors and adjusts radiographic equipment accordingly.
  • Assesses patient condition throughout procedure, observes for adverse reactions, and recognizes and responds to emergency situations per departmental procedures.
  • Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures; immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or injuries or accidents to manager.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervision.
Qualifications
  • Graduate from an accredited program in Radiologic Technology.
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Ability to deal tactfully and pleasantly with various patients, visitors, physicians, and other personnel.
  • Certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in diagnostic radiology.
  • Prior experience in Operating Room procedures.
