Overview

The Rad Tech II is responsible for operating imaging equipment to perform procedures for a specified patient population, ensuring quality and safety throughout.

Responsibilities
  • Performs quality radiologic procedures using appropriate technical and safety methods.
  • Determines technical and positioning factors to obtain quality images.
  • Determines appropriate technique, positioning and shielding to minimize radiation exposure and maintain ALARA guidelines.
  • Makes patient care‑related judgments and implements appropriate actions within legal, professional, and ethical standards.
  • Explains procedures to patients and answers questions or concerns.
  • Observes patients for distress or difficulty and reports incidents to appropriate staff.
  • Assists in the development of others through guidance and teaching.
  • Promotes professional practice of all members of the radiological services team.
  • Monitors and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, quality standards, and policies.
  • Effectively manages resources such as supplies and equipment.
  • Plans work and completes job responsibilities in an efficient and productive manner.
  • Demonstrates professional work behavior and excellent customer service routinely.
  • Performs other job functions as assigned or requested.
Education & Training
  • Technical Degree or Diploma in Radiology.
Experience
  • Rad Tech I to II experience: 1‑3 years.
Licenses & Certifications
  • Registered Radiologic Technologist – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Basic Life Support – American Heart Association.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to effectively relate and communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrated clinical competencies in radiography imaging equipment and procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of radiology information systems (RIS, HIS, PACS).
Physical Demands

The position requires climbing, pushing, standing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion. Must be able to exert up to 50 lbs of force occasionally and up to 25 lbs frequently. Requires good balance, coordination, and visual acuity. Frequent invasive and non‑invasive patient contact. Exposure to patient body fluids and hazardous materials. Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.

Other Information

No supervisory responsibilities are assigned to this position, except occasionally demonstrating responsibilities to other associates. The incumbent may observe and instruct student technologists.
