Job summary

Google Sunnyvale seeks a Rack Power Engineer to design and implement in-rack power systems for data center IT equipment, including power supplies, shelves, PDU, and battery backup solutions to meet ML, compute, and storage needs.

You will collaborate with vendors and internal teams to deliver high-efficiency, high-performance power solutions across Google's computing infrastructure, from concept through high-volume manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in EE, CE, Physics, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience working on AC/DC and power delivery systems, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
• Experience in power design.
• Master's degree or PhD in Power Electronics or related discipline preferred; understanding of power electronics fundamentals and conversion designs for data center power delivery.
• Knowledge of power converter modeling and simulation; experience in data center power system design or battery backup system design.

Responsibilities

• Innovate and design in-rack and data center power conversion specifications and solutions including power supplies, power shelf, PDU, battery backup system, etc.
• Analyze performance, cost, reliability and availability trade-offs.
• Build and validate component and system level power simulation models for AC and DC power systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand application requirements and partner with power industry leaders to evaluate and adopt compelling technologies.
• Lead projects that involve new technologies or new uses of multiple existing technologies.
• Engage cross-functionally to ensure successful roll-out, testing, and complete validation.
