Zusammenfassung

SpaceX is seeking a Rack Design Engineer (Starmind) to own high-density AI compute racks—from sketch through production. You will integrate compute, networking, power, and liquid cooling, and partner with mechanical, electrical, optical, and firmware teams to deploy custom compute for inference and training.

You will contribute to DFA/DFM for in-house manufacturing, oversee fixture design and first articles, and support现场 deployment and scaling of racks across programs.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, aerospace or related engineering field; 2+ years designing electromechanical hardware that ships.
• Experience taking rack/industrial hardware from prototype to production and supporting production ramp.

Aufgaben

• Own mechanical, structural, and integration design of high-density AI compute racks and chassis.
• Integrate compute, networking, power distribution, and liquid cooling into a buildable rack architecture.
• Design for the in-house manufacturing line: DFMA, fixtures, instructions, inspection, first article, and ramp.
• Resolve thermal, structural, and power constraints with cross-functional teams at cluster level.
• Drive vendor and in-house parts from concept to qualified production across sheet metal, busbar, manifolds, and rack accessories.
• Prototype and production floor duties: debug fit, leak, cable dress, airflow, and yield.
• Produce and maintain CAD, BOMs, drawings, and build documentation for volume production.
• Support deployment of racks including first-site bring-up and feedback into next hardware gen.
• Collaborate with network, optical, electrical, and firmware teams for inference/training compute across programs.
