Job summary

AHEAD is seeking a skilled Rack Assembly Technician in Libertyville, IL. You will build and cable high‑performance server racks from top vendors, following build docs and BOMs with attention to quality and safety.

You will perform medium complexity tasks, maintain a clean workspace, and escalate issues as needed while supporting continuous improvement and standard work across assembly centers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and write English, follow verbal instructions and use simple math.
• Basic computer skills.
• Two to three years of experience in an electronics manufacturing facility.
• Moderate MS Excel knowledge.
• Experience with computer hardware and cabling.

Responsibilities

• Install hardware and cable server racks using build docs and diagrams.
• Perform basic visual inspections for defects prior to installation.
• Interpret basic BOMs and Sales Orders with guidance.
• Conduct routine, low-complexity builds under supervision.
• Escalate build issues or material shortages to senior techs or supervisor.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and complete 5S duties.
• Record tasks accurately and report deviations or non-conformances.
• Demonstrate initiative in learning assembly processes and improving quality.
• Other duties as assigned.

Join acutting-edgeteam driving the AI and liquid cooling revolution. As a skilledRack AssemblyTechnician,you’llbe instrumental in building and cabling custom server racks that power next-generation data centers. Responsibilities include installingand cablinghigh-performance hardware from top vendors such as Dell, Cisco,SuperMicro, Nvidia, and others. Techniciansare required tofollowbuild documentation and their own technical judgment to construct each rack, execute clean and efficient cabling, and ensure the final product meetsallquality standards.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Install hardware and cable server racks using build documentation, including elevation diagrams and cable plans with direction from Level 2 & 3 technicians.
• Perform basic visual inspections on components and materials toidentifydefects before installation.
• Interpret basic Bills of Materials (BOMs) and Sales Orders with guidance.
• Execute routine, low‑complexity builds under direct supervision.
• Escalate build issues, discrepancies, or material shortages to Level 2 & 3 technicians, or your supervisor.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, completing daily housekeeping and 5S duties.
• Accurately record completed tasks and report any deviations or non‑conformances.
• Demonstrateinitiativein learning assembly processes and improving build quality.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and write English, follow verbal instructions and use simple math.
• Basic computer skills

Preferred Experience

• Two to three years of experience inanelectronicsmanufacturing facility.
• Moderate MS Excel knowledge
• Experience with computer hardwareand cabling

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Basic computer skills.
• Experience with Microsoft 365.
• Works well with others and demonstrates a great work ethic.
• Can work and train in all subsequent Assembly Work Centers.
• Detail and process oriented.
• Must be able to work additional hours and weekends when required.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift 50 lbs consistently
• Ability tosafely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistentwith the ADA, FMLA and other federal,stateand local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
• Ability tomaintainregular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.

$21 - $24 an hour

** This role is eligible for a shift differential of $3.00/hr

2nd shift schedule:

3:30pm-12:00am

The compensation range indicated in this posting reflects the On-Target Earnings (“OTE”) for this role, which includes a base salary and any applicable target bonus amount. This OTE range may vary based on the candidate’s relevant experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
