Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years as a racing official or steward, or equal time industry experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in making sound and valid decisions in high pressure situations.
• Strong written and oral communication skills in English is required.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist Racing Secretary with formulating race types to ensure competitive fields.
• Fill race cards by contacting trainers via phone, text, email, and in person.
• Record entries accurately and verify details.
• Review horse records to determine eligibility for races.
• Relays claims information according to operating procedures in a timely and accurate manner.
• Assist in the Entry-Draw process: enter info into database and participate in the draw.
• Maintain professional relationships with horse owners, trainers, regulatory agencies and racing officials.
• Ensure accuracy of racing records and uphold integrity in all actions.
