Job summary

Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course is seeking staff for the Racing Secretaries' Office. The role supports morning operations, program preparation, and data entry to produce the official track program.

You will assist in paddock, placing judge, identifier, patrol judge, and clerk of scales duties as races unfold. Responsibilities include ensuring correct rider entries, processing claims, and maintaining precise records consistent with Pennsylvania Rules of Racing.

Qualifications

• One to two years of prior experience in the Horse Racing Industry.
• Must have ability to read a Condition Book.
• Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic across units of measure.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
• Ability to follow written, oral, or diagram instructions.
• Ability to handle problems with several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Thorough knowledge of the Pennsylvania Rules of Racing.
• Outstanding guest service skills.
• Must qualify for a license with the Pennsylvania State Racing Commission.

Responsibilities

• Assist with morning work in the Racing Secretaries' Office: rider changes and producing the next day's program.
• Coordinate data entry and oversee track program preparation.
• Support the paddock, judge, and clerk duties as required during race days.
• Observe paddock activity to ensure proper procedures for race preparation.
• Verify rider assignments and replacements in jockey quarters.
• Process claim envelopes and assist Stewards with claims in a timely manner.
