Job summary

Presque Isle Downs & Casino in Erie, PA, part of Churchill Downs Incorporated, is seeking a Racing Team member to prepare horses and ensure a safe, fair start for every race. This hands-on role involves schooling horses, setting and operating the starting gate, and supporting race operations to keep race days running smoothly.

Qualified candidates will have prior horse handling or riding experience, the ability to work as part of a team, and knowledge of PA Racing Rules; a high school diploma is

Qualifications

• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Experience with starting gate operations or related racing tasks.

Responsibilities

• School horses in the morning and set up the starting gate.
• Ensure the best start for each race and maintain proper gate procedures.
• Move starting stands to each starting distance and adjust equipment as needed.
• Load and handle horses for each race and assist in race day operations.
• Oversee other Racing Department duties as assigned.
