Job summary

The New York Racing Association (NYRA) is seeking a Security Manager to plan, direct, and evaluate frontside and backstretch security teams, ensuring safety for employees and patrons. The role drives modernization, coordinates with law enforcement, and leads high-profile security projects across NYRA properties.

The successful candidate will manage budgets, build stakeholder relationships, and foster a proactive risk-management culture, while ensuring compliance with procedures during incidents

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; 4-Year Degree Preferred.
• 10–12 years of experience in Law Enforcement or Security.
• Previous supervisory experience or demonstrated experience leading groups.
• Experience operating within a unionized environment with a track record of fostering healthy labor-management relations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan and manage activities for frontside and backstretch security force across NYRA facilities.
• Oversee staffing, training, and performance; disciplinary actions as needed.
• Research, introduce, and implement innovative security practices and technologies.
• Cultivate relationships with internal units, local law enforcement, emergency services, and community partners.
• Maintain proactive communication with labor unions representing security personnel.
• Lead complex security projects and upgrades to physical security systems across NYRA properties.
• Establish and execute a continuous risk management program with threat assessments.
• Evaluate and test emergency action plans through drills and audits.
• Monitor equipment usage and maintenance for uniform officers.
• Respond to disruptive or criminal activity and coordinate with responders.
• Direct security operations at crime/accident scenes to protect people and property.
• Support fire safety initiatives and manage budgets and staffing.
