Position Summary

The Utility Tile Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations of the Utility Tile Department, ensuring tile installation, finishing work, and assigned utility production tasks are completed accurately, efficiently, safely, and according to company specifications and production schedules.

This is a hands-on, floor-based leadership position requiring the ability to supervise employees, coordinate materials and workflow, identify installation or quality concerns, and maintain daily production expectations.

The Supervisor works closely with Production Management, Quality Control, Maintenance, Safety, and other departments to ensure assigned work is completed correctly and ready for the next stage of manufactured home production.

Key Responsibilities

Department Operations & Production

• Supervise and coordinate daily production activities within the Utility Tile Department.

• Oversee tile installation, surface preparation, waterproofing, grouting, and related finishing work.

• Ensure tile layouts, measurements, cuts, and installations meet company specifications and quality standards.

• Oversee installation of shower doors and related components as assigned.

• Monitor daily production schedules, output expectations, and department productivity.

• Assign work, establish priorities, and ensure employees have the materials, tools, and direction necessary to perform their duties.

• Coordinate employee assignments and utility support activities based on production needs.

• Identify and resolve production delays, material shortages, workflow issues, and equipment concerns.

• Coordinate with other departments to maintain efficient production flow.

• Assist with hands-on tile installation and production activities when operationally necessary.

Tile Installation & Quality Control

• Verify proper surface preparation and waterproofing procedures before tile installation.

• Ensure tile layouts, spacing, alignment, cuts, and placement meet approved specifications.

• Monitor proper application of setting materials, grout, sealants, and finishing products.

• Inspect completed tile installations for defects, uneven surfaces, improper spacing, damaged materials, or workmanship concerns.

• Verify shower door installations and related components meet applicable specifications.

• Identify installation defects and coordinate necessary corrections to minimize rework.

• Work closely with Quality Control to maintain consistent workmanship standards.

• Promote efficient material usage and minimize unnecessary waste.

Employee Supervision & Accountability

• Provide daily leadership, direction, coaching, and performance feedback to department employees.

• Monitor employee attendance, punctuality, productivity, and compliance with company policies.

• Address employee performance concerns promptly and professionally.

• Document attendance, performance, conduct, and operational concerns as required.

• Support consistent enforcement of company policies, procedures, and workplace expectations.

• Assist with new hire training, onboarding, mentoring, and employee development.

• Promote teamwork, accountability, respectful communication, and a productive work environment.

• Communicate department concerns and staffing needs to Production Management and HR.

Safety & Workplace Standards

• Ensure employees follow all company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.

• Monitor safe use of tile saws, cutting tools, hand tools, power tools, ladders, and other production equipment.

• Ensure employees follow safe handling practices for adhesives, grout, sealants, waterproofing materials, and related products.

• Identify and promptly report unsafe conditions, equipment concerns, and workplace incidents.

• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.

• Ensure materials and equipment are properly stored and work areas remain free of unnecessary hazards.

• Reinforce daily housekeeping expectations and department cleanup requirements.

• Coordinate with Safety and Maintenance when corrective action or equipment repairs are necessary.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of supervisory or team leadership experience in manufacturing, production, tile installation, or construction.

• Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in tile installation, residential construction, or a closely related field.

• Working knowledge of tile layout, measuring, cutting, installation, grouting, surface preparation, and waterproofing.

• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, layouts, measurements, and specifications.

• Experience using and supervising the safe operation of tile saws, cutting tools, hand tools, and power tools.

• Demonstrated ability to supervise employees and maintain production schedules and quality standards.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous supervisory experience in manufactured housing, modular construction, or residential tile installation.

• Experience supervising tile installation, finishing, or utility production teams.

• Knowledge of shower door installation and related finishing processes.

• Familiarity with manufactured home production processes and departmental workflow.

• Experience meeting production quotas, reducing rework, and improving operational efficiency.

• Bilingual in English and Spanish.

• High school diploma or equivalent.

Work Schedule

Monday-Thursday | 6:00 AM-4:30 PM (Regular Production Schedule)

• Full-time, onsite position.

• Supervisory responsibilities may require additional hours before or after scheduled production shifts.

• 50+ hours per week may be required, depending on operational needs.

• Friday and/or Saturday overtime may be required based on production demands.

• Overtime compensation provided in accordance with applicable law.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Manufacturing and production environment with exposure to noise, dust, adhesives, tile materials, machinery, and varying temperatures.

• Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and movement throughout the production floor.

• Ability to safely use ladders and access assigned work areas.

• Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. as required.

• Ability to safely navigate active production areas.

• Ability to perform hands-on tile installation and related production activities when necessary.

• Required use of applicable PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and appropriate footwear.
