Job summary

ABB Inc. in Bloomfield, CT is seeking a Testing & Certification Engineer to drive prototyping, testing, and certification for new product development, cost-out and quality baseline programs.

You will coordinate with the R&D team and manufacturing to build samples, validate designs, and ensure standards compliance across UL, ANSI, CSA, IEC and ISO frameworks. The role is hybrid in Bloomfield, CT and requires working with external certifiers and internal teams to deliver reliable products on

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in testing or related field.
• Ability to systematically develop, document, and analyze data sets.
• Disciplined approach to problem solving and documentation.
• Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• US work authorization to work for ABB in the US.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with design teams to develop test programs for new and legacy products.
• Schedule and facilitate sample builds with manufacturing and vendors; assemble samples for testing.
• Act as liaison to 3rd party certifiers and co-develop test plans for standards compliance.
• Develop and execute test plans to meet ABB requirements, reliability, and sample size goals.
• Coordinate and schedule testing with internal and external labs.
• Create test requests from certification standards; document and analyze data.
• Tear down products, take measurements, and identify root causes of failures.
• Collaborate with design teams to provide feedback on product designs.
• Work with certifiers (UL, IEC, ANSI, CSA, ISO) to evaluate and document products per standards.
• Identify cost-out opportunities and participate in cross-functional workouts.
• Lead and execute projects with cross-functional teams.
