Job summary

ABB in Bloomfield, CT is seeking a testing specialist to drive prototyping, verification, and certification of new products in collaboration with the R&D team. You will coordinate test programs, work with internal and external labs, and liaise with certifiers (UL/ANSI/IEC) to ensure standards compliance.

This hybrid role supports cost-out initiatives and data-driven decisions with cross-functional leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in testing or related field.
• Demonstrated ability to systematically develop, document, and analyze data sets
• Disciplined approach to problem solving and documentation
• Ability to work independently and complete multiple tasks with minimal direction.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Candidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with design teams to develop test programs and baselines.
• Schedule and facilitate sample builds with manufacturing and vendors to build samples for testing.
• Act as liaison to 3rd party certifiers and co-develop test plans for standards compliance.
• Develop and execute test plans to meet internal ABB requirements, reliability, and sample sets.
• Coordinate testing with internal and external test labs.
• Create test requests based on interpretation of certification standards (UL/ANSI/CSA/IEC/ISO).
• Tear down products and take measurements or root cause failures.
• Provide feedback to design teams on product designs.
• Work with 3rd party certifiers to evaluate and document products to standards.
• Ensure all test methods comply with applicable standards (UL/ANSI/CSA/IEC/ISO).
• Identify cost out opportunities in the product line and participate in work outs.
• Lead and execute projects in collaboration with cross functional teams.
