Job summary

EMD Electronics in Tamaqua, PA, is seeking an R&D Technician to support process development in a lab and pilot plant environment, focusing on new product synthesis of Organo-Silane or Organo-Metallic compounds.

You will work with laboratory and pilot plant equipment, perform routine analyses, and ensure safety and compliance with EH&S standards. Shift options include afternoons and nights; onsite work in Tamaqua, PA.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience with laboratory/pilot plant operations preferred.
• Experience handling hazardous chemicals (toxic, reactive, pyrophoric, corrosive, oxidizer).
• Mechanical skills for assembly, installation and maintenance of glass and metal reactor systems.
• Familiarity with analytical instruments.
• Post secondary education in chemistry or technical field is preferred.
• Strong communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Manufacture compounds in a laboratory or pilot plant setting.
• Operate pilot scale chemical reactors, filtration equipment, heaters/chillers, gloveboxes and inert gas handling systems; package solids, liquids and gases.
